The Advisory Board is composed of influential and knowledgeable experts drawn from a broad and balanced variety of civil society international stakeholders such as NGOs, IOs, Trade Unions, Academics, SRIs etc. Members are selected for their expertise, knowledge and specific interest in issues linked to labour and environmental conditions in the global supply chain. Each member of the Advisory Board contributes to the Programme within her or his respective field of competence.
The Advisory Board’s role is to advise and challenge the Executive Board on the strategy, direction and best practice for each step of the Programme. Moreover, it helps monitor and evaluate progress. The Advisory Board therefore ensures that opinions and perspectives of civil society stakeholders are integrated into the pursuit of the Programme’s objectives.
Membership of the Advisory Board does not signify endorsement of the Programme. However Advisory Board members are expected to support the Programme’s objectives within their field of activity and expertise.

Public Communication from the Advisory Board
Advisory Board Members will regularly report publicly on the programme’s progresses, challenges and priorities.
The GSCP Advisory Board has been actively involved in the development of the Global Social Compliance Programme over the last 20 months. Their involvement has been reviewed in a note that the Advisory Board issued after the GSCP Spring General Meeting in Paris on May 6th & 7th, 2009. In this note, the Advisory Board reviews the evolution of its role and responsibility, the effectiveness of theGSCP governance model, the publication of the GSCP Reference Code and the role of the Programme in promoting sound labour relations. Three years have now passed since the GSCP was established and it is believed a solid basis has been created for the roll-out on a large scale of concrete actions and measures in the global supply chains. The GSCP Advisory Board therefore sees it timely to express its opinion about the present priorities in the work of the GSCP, as well as some of the issues that are now being discussed and prepared. This note builds on the previous one, which describes the approach of this Board to its engagement and work within the GSCP. As the views expressed in the previous note are still valid, this document should be read as an addition to it and will not repeat all the issues. Download the full text here
